Before & After: Driveway Restoration
This week’s project involved the removal of several large trees located directly within a gravel driveway and blocking access to the garage.
After removal, each stump was ground out and the driveway was regraded and finished so cleanly that it is impossible to tell the trees were ever there in the first place.
This type of situation is extremely common throughout Northwoods cabin country. Many homes, garages, and driveways were originally built around existing trees because property owners either did not have access to reliable tree service, did not want the disturbance, or simply worked around the trees at the time. In many cases, driveways were curved around trunks — and in others, trees were simply left standing directly in the driveway itself or even directly in front of doors.
With modern equipment, experienced climbers and operators, projects like this can now be completed quickly and with very low impact. What once may have felt like a major undertaking can often be completed in a day or two.
Throughout the project, yard mats were used to reduce turf compression and limit equipment tracking, and as always, special attention was given to cleanup and finish work. For most customers, the final appearance of the property is just as important as the removal itself.
The end result is improved access, easier maintenance, better visibility, and a cleaner overall layout — without sacrificing the surrounding landscape.
