Driveway Trimming on Carlin Lake in Presque Isle

April 20, 2026

"This week’s work focused on a long, overgrown driveway where we completed full-length clearance and vegetation management over a driveway that spans about 300 yards.

The project involved reducing understory density along the sides and trimming back the upper canopy located high above the driveway.  - a simple task for our 108 foot spider lift.

More sunlight and air movement helps keep the driveway drier, especially in low areas, reducing rutting and long-term wear. It also limits the accumulation of broken limbs and debris after wind and snow events.

We also identified and removed dozens of large high-risk trees [trunk-rot, leaning, deformed] along the route to significantly reduce the likelihood of future tree failure and blockages — a common issue with long Northwoods driveways.

For second-home owners, investing in the management of trees along driveways and access roads is extremely wise, and key for reducing headaches spurred-on by being blocked out of your lake home, or worse yet being blocked in."
